Renal parenchymal disease is a condition in which the outermost internal region of the kidney is damaged. This problem may occur in one or both two our kidneys. You said you just have your left kidney affected by this illness and under such a condition, it is normal to experience no symptoms.

As a matter of fact, we can live as well as healthy people with only one kidney and that is why people are able to live normally after donating a kidney. Our kidney contains one million nephrone which is composed of renal glomerulus, renal tubule and Bowman’s capsule. Kidney is of great compensatory function, and this means when small amounts of renal nephrone are damaged, we can still live as normally as before. Although your left kidney is damaged, but you still have a healthy right kidney, so you experience no symptoms.

According to clinical studies, symptoms appear when kidney problem develops to stage 3 which is marked by GFR (Glomerular Filtration Rate) 30-59. Normal kidney function is a GFR of abot 100, and based on this, we can know more than a half of kidney function is impaired in stage 3 CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease). Therefore, if you can protect your right kidney from being damaged and meanwhile stop progression of renal parenchymal disease in your left kidney, you can live normally.

Common symptoms of renal parenchymal disease include swelling, sudden increase of blood pressure, tiredness, poor appetite, foamy urine and so on. If you suffer from these problems, please go to doctor for medical treatment immediately as appearance of these problem may indicate your kidney function is impaired severely.
