Is It OK For Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Patients To Drink Milk

Is it OK for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients to drink milk? Yes, it is ok. CKD patients should drink milk to supplement protein intake. Besides, milk also has the following health benefits to kidney patients.

Is It OK For Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Patients To Drink MilkThe carbohydrate in milk is lactose, which can regulate gastric acid, promote gastrointestinal peristalsis and digestive gland secretion, also promote the absorption of calcium. Lactose in milk is not too much and it is about 10g. Even if you are a diabetic nephropathy patient, you can drink milk as well, which will not lead to fluctuation of blood sugar. However, as for patients with end stage of kidney disease, they often suffer from swelling, decreased urine output and other symptoms. They need to limit fluid intake and milk is also included.

Apart from protein, other nutrients in milk are also beneficial for kidney patients. Chronic kidney failure patients often have imbalanced calcium and phosphorus while calcium and phosphorus is balance in milk. Thus, drinking milk can correct calcium and phosphorus disorder.

Generally, CKD patients need to drink 250ml milk, eat an egg without yolk and eat about 60g lean meat per day. This can meet the requirement of protein intake.

Of course, there are some alternatives to milk. Soy milk and nondairy creamer can be found in most grocery stores, while products such as rice milk and almond milk have also gained in popularity. But some of these products do contain significant amounts of potassium and/or phosphorus, so it is important to check labels before eating them.

The key point in kidney disease treatment is to repair injured kidney tissues and improve renal function. Only in this way can their disease be controlled well. Here we recommend Chinese Medicine Treatments which include a series of therapies such as Medicated Bath, Medicated Foot Therapy, Mai Kang Mixture, Medicinal Soup, Steaming Therapy and Enema Therapy, etc. They first cleanse your blood and then provide you a clean blood environment for recovering renal function. When renal function is improved, symptoms like high blood pressure, swelling, poor appetite, anemia and fatigue can all be relieved from the root.
