What Should CKD Patients Pay Attention To When Getting Pregnant

It is every women’s persue and dream. As for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients, being pregnant is their extravagant demands. Well then, what should they do when CKD patients get pregnant?

What Should CKD Patients Pay Attention To When Getting PregnantIn the duration of pregnancy, they should keep close to their blood pressure, proteinuria, swelling, anemia, kidney function and fetal placenta condition. Take test every two weeks. If proteinuria is massive and blood pressure also increases, you should lie on bed to have a good rest. If there is only increased proteinuria while blood pressure and kidney function are normal, you can continue the pregnancy. If your kidney function declines due to some factors like dehydration, electrolyte disorder, various infection especially for upper respiratory tract infection and urinary tract infection, you should stop your pregnancy.

Besides, CKD patients also need to pay much attention to their diet.

First, based on blood pressure and swelling, you should choose diet with less salt or no salt. This can relieve water-retention and avoid elevated blood pressure. If you intake too less salt, it can cause hyponatremia. In this condition, patients can suffer from nausea, vomiting, convulsion and coma. Generally salt intake should be 1-3g every day.

Protein intake should be high quality protein including milk, egg and lean meat.

Low phosphorus intake is able to reduce glomeruli’ high perfusion and high filtration state. This can avoid the sclerosis of glomeruli.

With pregnancy, kidney patients should consume more vitamins particularly vitamin A, vitamin B and vitamin C. Carrots, tomato and green vegetables are rich in vitamins.

There is no strict limitation of fluid. You can drink more vegetable juice or fruit juice which has diuretic properties.

If you has anemia, timely treatment should be taken and foods with rich iron is helpful.

Kidney patients with pregnancy should not only notice the changes of some levels or symptoms, but also follow a strict diet plan. If you have any question, you can leave a message below or consult our online doctor directly.
