In general, 0.2 grams of protein is needed per kilogram of body weight per day for these who have not started dialysis. However, for these who are on dialysis, their protein intake will be increased to 1.2 gram per kilogram of body weight per day. 3. High potassium foods

It is also necessary to stay away from high potassium foods with diagnosis of kidney failure and this is because kidney failure increases risk for hyperkalemia which is very harmful for our heart. Foods high in potassium include banana, celery, seeds, spinach and nuts.

4. High phosphorus foods

With healthy kidneys, phosphorus level in blood is kept in the normal range. However, in kidney failure, kidneys can not work normally to regulate phosphorus level. Hyperphosphatemia is caused easily under such a condition, phosphorus intake should be limited. High phosphorus intake include almonds, yolk, salmon, cheese, beef and dried fruit.
