1. Eat more foods high in fiber

Fiber can promote bowl movement, so eating more foods high in fiber helps to prevent constipation. Foods like corn, cauliflower and cabbage are high in fiber. These foods can be added in dining-table.

2. Drink much more water if you are allowed

Fluid limitation is needed, because it causes bad effects in some cases, but for peritoneal dialysis, they do dialysis frequently and excess fluid can be removed timely. Therefore, they can drink much more water in their daily life. This also helps to prevent constipation.

3. Mild physical exercises

Peritoneal dialysis patients should avoid drastic exercises, but they can do mild physical exercises regularly like walking and playing Taichi. Regular physical exercise not only strengthen immune system, increase immunity, so as to reduce risk for infection and cold, it also promote bowel movement, which is very helpful in preventing constipation.
