Influencing Factors Of FSGS Prognosis

Influencing Factors Of FSGS PrognosisFocal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) is a common type of kidney disease, and patients with FSGS are eager to know the prognosis of this disease. As for the prognosis, it is affected by many factors. Here we will let you know the influencing factors of FSGS.

1. The prognosis is related to pathology of FSGS.

The pathology of FSGS is divided into four types: tip lesion, peripheral patter, classical type and collapse type. The prognosis of tip type is better than peripheral patter and classical type, while peripheral patter and classical type prognosis are better than collapse.

2. Proteinuria is the most important indicator of FSGS prognosis.

Protein of 24h is less than 3-3.5g per day, which is called non-nephrotic proteinuria. Protein of 24h more than 3-3.5g/day which is called nephrotic proteinuria. When the 24h proteinuria is over 10g, it is called malignant proteinuria.

Non-nephrotic proteinuria patients can have 92% living rate of 5 years and 10 years respectively.

Malignant proteinuria patients may progress to kidney failure within 3 to 5 years.

Proteinuria in nephrotic syndrome patients have 76% living rate of 5 years and 57% living rate of 10 years.

3. Whether patients’ conditions have alleviation is the most useful prognosis indicator.

Complete alleviation refers that 24h proteinuria is less than 0.3g per day, part alleviation refers that 24h proteinuria is within the range of 3 to 3.5g/d.

Only 15% of complete and part alleviation patients develops to kidney failure within 5 years.

50% patients without any recovery goes into renal failure within 6 years.

4. Serum creatinine level in the beginning of treatment

73% patients with serum creatinine over 1.3mg/dl will develop into kidney failure within 10 years.

Nobody with serum creatinine less than 1.3mg/dl suffers from kidney failure within 10 years.

Of course, other factors also affect the prognosis of FSGS like race and reaction to steroids. If you want to learn more information about FSGS, welcome to click the online dialogue box. Our online experts will help you solve your problems.
