How Does Blood in Urine Occur in IgA Nephropathy

IgA nephropathy is a primary glomerular disease which shows blood in urine, mesangial cell proliferation and matrix increased. IgA nephropathy is an autoimmune disease caused by deposition of IgA which is an antibody in glomerular mesangium area. Hematuria or blood in urine is a common symptom in IgA nephropathy, which is generally repeated and persistent. Then we will show you the reason for hematuria in IgA nephropathy.

How does IgA nephropathy cause hematuria?

IgA is also called immunoglobulin A with the function of anti-infection and enhancement of immunity. However, when immune system disorders or cellular inflammatory is unusual, IgA may deposit in mesangium area. As IgA accumulates, mesangium can be thicken and likely to cause inflammation in kidney. That may cause decline of glomerular filtration and kidney damage directly. In these cases, red blood cells leak out and present in urine. Blood in urine caused by IgA nephropathy can be categorized into microscopic hematuria and gross hematuria. Most of the escaping red blood cells are out of shape. In addition, hematuria is very harmful for our health, which can result in anemia, weakness, nausea and vomiting.

How to treat IgA nephropathy with hematuria?

Unfortunately, there is no treatment to cure IgA nephropathy with modern medical technology. Patients can take Western medicine such as cortin, cyclophosphamide, ACEI, CyA and so on. But these medicines cannot dissolve IgA out of kidney and have no effect on repairing kidney damage. By dissolving IgA and repairing kidney damage, hematuria in IgA can be alleviated fundamentally. Immunotherapy can reach this goal. Immunotherapy is a unique therapy studied by our hospital. It mainly contains six steps: Immune diagnosis, Immune blockage, Immune tolerance, Immune regulation, Immune protection and Immune clearance. Because immunity system is improved and kidney damage is repaired by Immunotherapy, IgA deposition can be removed and hematuria in IgA can be alleviated efficiently.

Apart from Immunotherapy, limitation on diet is also helpful to slow down IgA progression. A healthy diet should be followed, which needs low salt, low protein, limitation of water with swelling. Besides, keep a good mood is also useful.
